The campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia, south of Charlottesville. As part of the statewide Virginia Community College System, PVCC serves the residents of five counties surrounding Charlottesville and Albemarle, and an enrollment of 2,668 full-time equivalent students as of 2009[update]. PVCC was chartered in 1972.
PVCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees.
