Molloy College

Molloy College is located in Rockville Centre, New York, a Nassau County community on Long Island, in the United States. At 30 acres (120,000 m2), it is a relatively small campus with no residential facilities scheduled to be open until 2011. Students generally commute from their homes on Long Island or New York City. Molloy advertises the school's "quality education close to home."
Molloy College was founded by the Dominican Sisters of the Congregation of the Holy Cross in 1955.
Molloy offers undergraduate and graduate programs in numerous areas. It is perhaps best known for its nursing program, which is the fourth largest in the country. In addition, Molloy offers an Business Honors Program, an honors program and interdisciplinary studies for undergraduate students. Graduate students can study in the areas of business, education, nursing, or social work. The social work graduate program is a joint venture with Fordham University. Molloy also offers a selection of continuing education courses each semester.
Its athletic teams compete as the Molloy Lions. Sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, rugby, lacrosse, and soccer for men; basketball, cross country, dance team, rugby, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball for women, as well as an equestrian team for both men and women. In 2010, the Molloy College outdoor track team was established. It includes all sprinting, short and long distances, as well as throwing events such as shotput, discus, javelin, and hammer.
In addition to athletics, there are a number of clubs and organizations for Molloy College students. Molloy's global learning program is also popular, as students can travel to foreign lands to take courses with Molloy faculty at approximately the same cost as taking the courses on campus.
The Molloy College Rugby Football Club was established in 2005 by Brendan Droge, who played collegiate rugby at Iona College. The first match in team history was played on April 1, 2006. In the Fall of 2008, the women's team was started. Since then, both teams have regularly appeared in the Metropolitan New York Rugby Union's Division III playoffs. The Club has succeeded off the field with a large homecoming festival begun in the Fall of 2009, and a rugby year-end formal begun in the Spring of 2010. The Men's Club won the 2010 Metropolitan New York Division III Rugby Championship. The Molloy Rugby Club has over 70 active members.
The Business undergraduate program offers full scholarships and substantial scholarships to students meeting the SAT criteria. There is also one for transfer students. Kiran and Anil Chaturvedi MBA Leadership Award This $1,000 award shall be given to a student graduating from Molloy College's MBA Program who has, during their tenure, demonstrated strong leadership skills and has additionally demonstrated a desire to become an outstanding leader in their chosen field. The student will have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.7.
In July 2009, Ed Weis, Ph.D. was hired as the Dean of the Division of Business.
