The campus comprises 331 acres (1.34 km2) of Washington County, Virginia, which is part of the mountain region of Southwest Virginia. As the oldest institute of higher learning in Southwest Virginia, Emory & Henry College’s entire campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Emory & Henry is listed as one of 40 "Colleges That Change Lives.",. E&H faculty members have been recognized five times as "Virginia Professor of the Year" and once as "U.S. Professor of the Year" by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
